Alejandro Toledo served as President of Peru from 2001 to 2006. He holds a Ph.D from Stanford University where he is a Distinguished Fellow in Residence at Stanford's Center for Advanced Study in Behavioral Sciences, and a Payne Distinguished Visiting Lecturer as the Freeman Spogli Institute's Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law. He is also the founder and president of the Global Center for Development and Democracy in Washington D.C.
